A little room to grow

Online teaching asks you to hold a lot at once. You may be moving through slides, watching participant video, keeping an eye on a scrolling chat, or running a livestreaming setup, all while trying to lead a coherent lesson.

Independent educators rarely have someone behind the scenes to manage those moving parts. Greenhouse is built with online teaching in mind, but the same challenge appears in any live session with a large audience: hearing from people without losing the thread of what you are there to do.

Its tools will help you stay connected to participants, so you can focus on the reason you are there: teaching.

As it grows, Greenhouse will offer more ways to make that exchange feel thoughtful rather than hurried. The aim is to give participants a clearer way in while helping you see where the lesson needs to go.

Why “Greenhouse”?

teachgloine.live begins with “teach,” but that is a fun little misdirection on my part. Teach gloine is Irish for "greenhouse," a motif I chose because I built this site for my own work at Monospace Mentor. My motto there is "I help DevOps people grow."

The same idea guides Greenhouse: I want it to become a place where you plant the seeds of what you're sharing, and see them grow.
